Trucker seriously hurt after crash sets cab on fire in Georgia
A truck driver was seriously hurt after a crash in Georgia on Monday afternoon.

TALLAPOOSA, Ga. — A truck driver was severely injured in a crash in rural Georgia that occurred Monday afternoon.

According to a Newstalk WLBB report, citing the Georgia State Police, the crash occurred around 3:21 p.m.

That is when a trooper with the Georgia State Police (GSP) was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash with injuries and roadway blockage at the intersection of Steadman Road and Bowdon Street in Haralson County.

Police say the crash investigation revealed that a Toyota Camry was traveling southeast on Steadman Road and attempting to make a left turn onto Bowdon Street. A tractor-trailer was traveling south on Bowdon Street.

The driver of the Toyota Camry failed to yield while turning left, causing a collision with the tractor-trailer, according to police.

After the impact of the crash, authorities say the tractor-trailer traveled off the roadway and struck a tree before catching on fire, fully engulfing the cab.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Grady Hospital. The 17-year-old female driver of the Toyota Camry suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital in Rome, Ga.
