The national average price for a gallon of diesel dropped from $4.305 to $4.146, a drop of 15.9 cents, according to the weekly report from the U.S> Energy Information Association. That is after the price fell exactly 16 cents last week from the previous week.
As was the case last week, each reporting region fell by double digits.
The largest drop came from the Midwest Region which fell by 19 cents per gallon to under $4 from $4.135 to $3.945.
Oil prices have swung up and down as hopes fade and rise that the United States and Iran can reach a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That would allow oil tankers to resume delivering crude from the Persian Gulf to customers, according to an Associated Press report.
