FBI looking into death of trucker in Georgia who went missing last week
The FBI is looking into the death of a trucker in Georgia.

TAMPA, Fla. — The FBI is looking into the case of a missing trucker, whose body was found in Coastal Georgia, and confirmed to be missing truck driver Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was last seen in the early morning hours of April 17, 2026, at the I-95 South Brevard County Rest Area in Grant-Valkaria, Florida.

According to a release from the FBI field office is Tampa, Gonzalez went missing after picking up a shipment of cars on April 16 at the Port of Brunswick in Georgia for delivery to Miami.

On April 17, his truck was reportedly located in Port Wentworth, Georgia, with several cars missing from the hauler.

FBI Tampa and Atlanta Divisions are leading the investigation into Gonzalez’s death.

WJAX television news out of Jacksonville, Fla., published a timeline of Gonzalez’s movements since picking up the cars from the port.

  • April 16: Gonzalez picks up a load of multiple vehicles at the Port of Brunswick, Ga. and departs southbound toward Miami.
  • April 17: Gonzalez stops at a Brevard County rest area off Interstate 95 near Grant-Valkaria, Fla. Later that day, the GPS on his truck showed he was traveling north toward Jacksonville, Fla. Shortly thereafter, Gonzalez stops responding and his truck is reported missing.
  • April 17: The truck is later located 320 miles away from the rest area in Port Wentworth, Ga. with several cars missing from the hauler.
  • April 17: A body is discovered in coastal Glynn County, nearly 80 miles from where the semitrailer was found, according to the Associated Press.
  • April 24: The FBI’s Tampa Division issues a missing person alert for Gonzalez. In that alert, the FBI said his truck and some of the cars he was hauling were recovered, but he remains missing.
  • April 29: The FBI confirms that the body found in coastal Glynn County is Gonzalez.

There has been no offical word on the cause of death.
