An Idaho man was sentenced in a CDL fraud scheme.

After pleading guilty to a felony charge related to CDL fraud, an Idaho man was sentenced earlier in June.

According to a release from the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General (DOTOIG), on June 16, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho sentenced Ryan Basnaw to time served, a $2,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

On March 26, 2026, Basnaw pleaded guilty to one felony count of Federal programs fraud.

According to the release, on July 2, 2025, Basnaw offered and agreed to give a commercial driver’s license (CDL) skills tester $500 in exchange for a passing score on a CDL skills test without ever taking the test. Basnaw did so to remove three restrictions from his CDL.
