FMCSA yanks Safe ELD, MyLogs ELD devices from approved list
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has removed electronic logging devices provided by Bemorex and MyLogs ELD from its list of registered devices.

WASHINGTON — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has pulled Safe ELD (both IOS and Android versions) and MyLogs ELD from its list of registered electronic logging devices (ELDs), according to a statement issued Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The devices were placed on the Revoked Devices list due to the companies’ failure to meet the minimum requirements established in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395. Specifically, the FMCSA requires that any ELD without a printer be designed so that “the display may be reasonably viewed by an authorized safety official without entering the commercial motor vehicle.”

The revoked ELD models include the following devices:

Provider: Bemorex
Device: Safe ELD
Model Numbers: SafeELD-Android and SafeELD-IOS
ELD Identifier: ELD42A

Provider: MyLogs Inc.
Device: MyLogs ELD
Model Number: MYLGS2 (f/k/a MYLGS)
ELD Identifier: MRS202 (f/k/a MRS201)

“Since January 2025, FMCSA has taken decisive action — removing 67 noncompliant devices that failed to meet federal standards — to protect the integrity of the ELD program, and we will continue to identify and remove any device that falls short,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs. Nearly 30 of those devices were removed in 2026 alone.

According to the FMCSA, motor carriers have up to 60 days to replace the revoked ELDs with a compliant ELD. FMCSA will send an industry-wide email to inform motor carriers that anyone using the revoked ELDs must take the following steps:

  1. Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.
  2. Replace the revoked ELDs with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices listbefore July 07, 2026.

Until July 7, 2026, the FMCSA encourages safety officials NOT cite drivers using the revoked ELDS for the following violations:

  • 395.8(a)(1) – “No record of duty status”
  • 395.22(a) – “Failing to use a registered ELD.”

Instead, safety officials should request the driver’s paper logs or logging software, or use the ELD display as a back-up method to review the hours-of-service data.

Beginning July 07, 2026, motor carriers who continue to use the revoked devices listed above will be considered as operating without an ELD. Safety officials who encounter a driver using the revoked devices on or after July 07, 2026, should cite 395.8(a)(1) and place the driver out-of-service (OOS) in accordance with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance OOS Criteria.

If the ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies for its device, FMCSA will place the ELD back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry of the update.
