OTTAWA, Ontario — Canadian officials admit to major confusion over whether truckers would remain exempt from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate after bureaucrats misinterpreted policy in more than one federal agency — including the one that coordinates Canada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Canadian Broadcasting Company reported that “the trucking industry was caught by surprise on Jan. 12 when the Canada Border Services Agency sent a statement to media saying that unvaccinated and partially vaccinated truck drivers crossing into Canada from the United States would remain exempt from the vaccine mandate. …”
The Trucker had reported that news on its website and social media.
However, the Canadian government has now said in a statement that the information was sent to members of the press “in error.”
Canada’s truck drivers will need to be fully vaccinated if they want to avoid a two-week quarantine and pre-arrival molecular test for COVID-19 before crossing into Canada.
Additionally, any truckers who are not U.S. citizens crossing from Canada to the United States must show proof of vaccination before crossing the border.
The Canadian government provided no more explanation for the botched messaging, which one trucking industry association said prompted some unvaccinated truckers to be dispatched across the border during the period when everyone thought Ottawa had backed down.
Meanwhile, many truckers in Canada are participating in a strike against vaccine mandates that’s been dubbed as Freedom Convoy 2022.
The group had raised more than $2 million as of Sunday. The money will be used to help with fuel costs, food, lodging and other incidentals needed to help sustain the striking truckers.
The truckers are traveling from Vancouver to Ottawa, where they say they will sit until the mandate is abolished. The hashtag #FreedomConvoy2022 has thousands of posts and videos showing long lines of truckers slowly making their way to Canada’s capital.
The trucking industry is vital to ensure smooth flow of goods since more than two-thirds of the C$650 billion ($521 billion) in goods traded annually between Canada and the United States travels on roads.
But as many as 32,000, or 20%, of the 160,000 Canadian and American cross-border truck drivers may be taken off the roads due to the mandate, the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) estimates.
The CTA, however, said in a statement on Saturday it does not support any protests on public road ways and the only way to cross the border on a commercial truck is by getting vaccinated.
On Facebook Monday, thousands of posts were dedicated to talking about the Freedom Convoy.
“We are standing up for everyone!” wrote Paul Splinter on Facebook. “From the mom and pop restaurants to the doctors and nurses! Every single person in Canada are being represented in this Freedom Convoy.”
Craig Hunt wrote: “Big thank you to all the truckers and supporters heading to Ottawa! The support along the highway has been amazing as is the financial support… LET’S KEEP BUILDING THE MOMENTUM!”
Others remained concerned that the movement was attracting far-right extremists who are seeking to hijack it for their own political agendas.
“Let this be clear: We are protesting government overreach here,” wrote J.S. Sanders on a Canadian trucking message board. “We are not trying to overthrow this or any government. We just want our voices heard.”

The whole situation sounds like a political game of chess between the United States and Canada. In which, our front line workers are being used as Pons. Why do I say this? Both countries know that covid is here to stay and no longer can be battled with vaccination. What difference does it make if our front line workers, that are putting themselves out there to help, have been vaccinated or not. Research shows that there is no place left on the planet, that’s inhabited, that covid has not invaded, so it is not like they are going to bring the virus into a place where it doesn’t already exist. So they are trying to force our front line workers to get vaccinated but they leave all of our children under twelve not vaccinated. This is not logical in any way so who’s political agenda is really running the show. Are they really concerned about our transfer truck drivers? They certainly didn’t mind having them work through the first two stages unvaccinated, so now why are they bullying the people we rely on for our substance.
Bingo!!!! The only thing I would suggest to you is that you look up the death statistics of kids under 20. Statistically zero. Kids don’t need this shot. Natural immunity is 27 times more effective than this medical intervention. And it is not a vaccine because it neither protects you from the virus, nor does it stop transmission. (the two legal things a vaccine is supposed to do). And if you really want to understand who’s political agenda it is look up and study Technocracy (the science of social engineering) And learn about Mass Formation Psychosis. So you don’t become hypnotized like 30% of the population is right now.
And while you are at see if you can find The Canadian Trucking Alliance. They don’t exist (their address is coincidentally the same as the Ontario Trucking Alliance). And know that our man/boy PM is a Communist and eugenicist. He isn’t working for us.

I am a Canadian in BC, usually listen to NPR on the way home. Was listening to CBC today, the 28th, the day before the truckers rally in Ottawa, our capital. CBC is the national radio station. I never heard so much bs in one half hour in my life. First a provincial health minister admitted that they are counting deaths from other causes as a covid death, if the person has covid, because it may have been a factor.
Next up was the BC health minister, Bonnie Henry, was complaining that people were “othering” her, while her policies clearly “other” the unvaccinated, as the unvaxed are not allowed in restaurants, gyms, theatres etc.
Then they went on to talk about the trucker rally in Ottawa. Do they talk about forcing isolated truckers to take experimental injections? NO, they talk about “Anti-vaxer fringe groups” and get an expert on white supremacists to come on. Of course he fuels the hatred. No talking about the issue, giving a fair discussion of both sides. It was total propaganda. I knew CBC was brainwashing people but boy did I get an ear full.

Almost 900,000 deaths and counting in the U.S. due to Covid. Vast majority of them preventable, if not for the steadfast protection of ‘individual rights’. The vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths related to Covid are of the unvaccinated – just ask any nurse or doctor who continues to work long hours in the service of those who are unwilling to protect themselves and others. Yes, there are breakthrough cases. My sister, 60 years old, who his fully vaccinated and with a booster, got Covid this week. Her experience? Felt like she had a cold. That was it. She did not burden the healthcare system; she took one (3, actually) for the TEAM and avoided that. The facts are the facts, people. How ignorant and selfish to refute the data and place one’s ‘individual rights’ over the health and wellbeing of your fellow man, only to further demonstrate that selfish ignorance by occupying a city with a posse of big rigs.
The “death toll” for covid are LIES. I have seen and heard many nurses who have done interviews telling everyone that more than half of the “covid deaths” were in fact from malpractice. I just watched one who told this to Senator Ron Johnson about a 1 1/2 weeks ago. So maybe you need to get your facts straight. I’m unvaxed and got sick and guess what. Just felt like a sinus infection. Didn’t burden the healthcare system either. It doesn’t stop the virus in anyway. So yes, people’s individual rights need to be protected. The vax isn’t even a vax since it doesn’t prevent you from getting sick nor does it stop the spread . The fact that this is still being forced on ppl is outright ridiculous and needs to be criminalized. So how ignorant and selfish do you have to be to not see it does nothing but MAYBE lessen symptoms for some that get it. My mom is vaxed she also got sick and was much sicker than me. She didn’t need a dr either but it didn’t lessen her symptoms much. I’ve had it twice since April 2021. The first time I was stuck in bed for a week. BUT still didn’t need a dr. So you can take your opinion on this stupid virus and the BS vax and shove it.
Yes! And well said! I have had Covid twice and survived too without burdening the hospital and nurses and doctors. I even had an antibody test done which proved I have the same antibodies the vaccine is supposed to provide!
