An agreement has been reached.
According to a release issued by the Deapartment of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General (DOT-OIG), on May 18, 2026, in coordination with the Florida Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, DOT-OIG reached a civil settlement agreement with Nationwide Moving Services, Inc. (Nationwide), and its owner, Frank Lucido.
According to the release, the investigation found that Lucido failed to provide promised services; misrepresented or omitted who would move consumers’ household goods; was difficult to reach when problems arose; failed to provide refunds to consumers; raised prices arbitrarily during moves; missed pick-up and delivery dates; lost, stole, or damaged consumers’ property; and provided unsatisfactory offers to resolve or compensate for the consumers’ negative experiences. All of these actions violated the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
The Government reached a settlement with Nationwide and Lucido as a single entity, to fine them $50,000 in civil penalties and pay $415,000 in restitution to customers. The final settlement also included $135,000 in legal costs the Florida Attorney General’s Office incurred investigating the case. The complete amount, which includes restitution, penalties, and attorney costs, totals $600,000.
