Diesel prices fell, but did so modestly this week according to the weekly report from U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The per-gallon price for diesel inched down by a cent and a half from $4.490 to $4.475.
The differences in prices, whether increase or decrease, hovered around the three-cent mark.
The Midwest Region was one of the exceptions, falling by just over four and a half cents per gallon from $4.399 to $4.352. The Central Atlantic Region also fell by just over four cents per gallon from $4.399 to $4.352.
The increases came from the Lower Atlantic Region which rose by just over three cents per gallon from $4.120 to $4.151 as well as the Gulf Coast Region which climbed nearly four cents per gallon from $3.951 to $3.989.
The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that the price for a barrel of Brent crude oil fell 3.8% to $95.80 after the ceasefire between the United States and Iran appeared to hold despite the U.S. military launching what it called “self-defense” strikes in southern Iran. A barrel of benchmark U.S. crude fell even more, 4.5%, to $89.64 on hopes that the United States and Iran can reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and allow oil tankers to exit the Persian Gulf again.
