GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — Early Monday morning, Guadalupe County, Texas Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft, K9, and Patrol deputies, as well as the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, intercepted two semi-tractor trailers on Interstate 10.

Authorities say inside the two trailers were six stolen vehicles worth more than $470,000. The cargo was believed to be headed for Honduras, according to a press release from the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say two Honduran nationals were arrested and charged with theft of property valued between $150,000 and $300,000.

The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Pedro Velasquez, currently residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and 48-year-old Dany Arias-Tucios, of Honduras. The trucks, trailers, and vehicles remain in custody pending further identification and possible seizure.

“The investigation into the origin of the stolen vehicles is ongoing, and additional charges or arrests may follow,” the release stated. “Great work by our teams keeping our roads and communities safer.”
