A trucker was injured on Monday afternoon after his rig overturned on Interstate 44 in Missouri.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — A trucker was injured on Monday afternoon after his rig overturned on Interstate 44 in Missouri.

According to a crash summary from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the 64-year-old driver of a 2015 Peterbilt from Bartlesville, Okla. reportedly fell asleep at the wheel on Interstate 44 approximately seven miles west of Mount Vernon, Mo., in Lawrence County.

The vehicle traveled into the median, overturned and then returned to the roadway.

MSHP says the driver was taken to a hospital in Joplin, Mo., but no update on his condition was given by police.
